Golf DC (“we,” “us”) runs golfdc.com, a directory of public, municipal, and private golf courses in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. This policy explains what we collect when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect
Information you give us. If you fill out our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you submit so we can reply. You don’t need an account to use the site.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect some technical information when you visit — your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the links you click, and how you arrived at the site. We use cookies and similar technologies to do this (see Cookies and analytics below).
We don’t knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and the site isn’t directed at children under 13.
Cookies and analytics
We use two analytics tools to understand how people use the site so we can improve it:
- Google Analytics 4 — measures traffic and general usage. Data is processed by Google.
- PostHog — product analytics. It records pageviews and on-page interactions (such as clicks and scrolling), and captures session recordings — a replay of how you moved through the site — so we can see what’s useful and where people get stuck. We mask the text you type (such as form fields) so recordings don’t capture what you enter. Data is processed by PostHog in the United States.
These tools set cookies and collect the technical information described above. We don’t use them to identify you by name, and we don’t sell this information.
We show a cookie banner that lets you accept, reject, or manage analytics cookies, and we honor your browser’s Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal if you’ve enabled one. Essential cookies needed to run the site and remember your consent choice are always on.
We don’t currently serve personalized advertising. If we add advertising or remarketing (for example, Google Ads) later, we’ll update this policy and our consent options before doing so.
How we use your information
We use what we collect to:
- respond to messages you send us,
- measure and improve the site’s content and performance, and
- keep the site secure and working correctly.
How your information is shared
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the site:
- Google (Analytics; and advertising services if we add them),
- PostHog (product analytics), and
- our email delivery provider (to send and receive contact-form messages).
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We don’t sell your personal information. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and our users.
Your choices and rights
- Cookies: Use the cookie banner or the preferences link to accept or reject analytics cookies at any time. Rejecting them won’t break the site.
- Global Privacy Control: We honor the GPC signal.
- State privacy rights: Depending on where you live (for example, California, Virginia, Colorado, or Connecticut), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain uses. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
- Contact-form data: Ask us to delete a message you sent and we’ll remove it.
Data retention
We keep contact-form messages only as long as we need them to respond and to keep records of our correspondence. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s and PostHog’s standard retention settings.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if our practices change and revise the “last updated” date above. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
