Course Overview
Rock Creek Park Golf Course is a par 65 layout that spans just under 5,000 yards. The front nine features a more traditional setup with wider fairways and flatter terrain, making it approachable for beginners and casual players.
In contrast, the back nine – which remains closed for safety and future renovation – has historically offered a rugged, challenging test with narrow tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, and small greens.
Currently, players can choose between playing the front nine twice for a full 18-hole experience or opting for a 5-hole loop (holes 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18). Despite its modest yardage, the course provides a rewarding test of shot-making and course management.
Amenities and Rates
While the course does not have a driving range, it offers a large putting green, a small pro shop, and a snack bar with light food and beverages. Golf lessons are available through the playDCgolf Academy.
Rates are affordable, with 9-hole rounds starting around $19 on weekdays and $24 on weekends. A 5-hole loop option is also available for a lower fee. Discounts are offered for seniors, juniors, and military players. Equipment rentals, including clubs, carts, and pushcarts, are available on-site.
Location and Access
The course is located at 6100 16th Street NW in Washington, DC, nestled within Rock Creek Park. It’s just a short drive from downtown, offering convenient access for both city residents and visitors.
Tee times can be reserved online through the PlayDCGolf website, with flexible cancellation options up to two hours in advance.
Looking Ahead
A major renovation is scheduled to begin in late 2024, with plans including a new clubhouse, 50-bay driving range, restored Flynn routing, a short par-3 course, and enhanced practice areas.
These improvements are poised to elevate Rock Creek into one of the premier public golf destinations in the region.
